The actor who is known for his roles as Uncle Woody on “Sanford and Son” and Ned the Wino on “Good Times,” Raymond Allen’s death cause was revealed.

Raymond Allen died at the age of 91 early Monday morning.

His daughter, Ta-Ronce Allen, confirmed the news on her Facebook page on Tuesday.

‘What a day this is been. I am so surrounded by love from friends and family. This has been one of the hardest days of my life I lost my father Raymond Allen and my cousin Deborah Doll (his niece). They are now both being held by the wings of angels,’ she wrote.

Raymond Allen’s death cause was not COVID-19

The actor had been living at a long-term care facility in California when he was found unresponsive. His family told that his cause of death was suffering from ‘respiratory issues.’, however was not COVID-related.

The EMTs were responding and they attempted to revive him, but unfortunately, he had already passed. Allen had not been well for many years and his family had entered him into the health care facility in 2016.

He had struggled with pneumonia many times.

Raymond Allen career life

Allen’s other roles as a character actor included Ned the Wino on “Good Times,” another popular sitcom that aired from 1974 to 1980, and Merl the Earl on “Starsky and Hutch,” a drama that aired from 1975 to 1979.

He also appeared in a 1978 episode of “The Jeffersons” called “George Finds a Father” as Zeke, and on an episode of “The Love Boat” and “What’s Happening!!” that same year.

His first role was in the 1946 film “Fight That Ghost,” and he later appeared in the 1973 film “Mean Mother” and the 1975 film “Dark Strutters” before beginning his television career with a 1975 episode on the American religious-anthology series “Insight.”

His last role was in 1985’s when he played in “Gus Brown and Midnight Brewster.”

Raymond Allen personal life

Allen was married to Barbara Williams from 1963 to 1977.

They had three children together that include two daughters Ta-Ronce Allen (former child actress) and Brenda Allen as well as son, Raymond Gilmore Allen Jr. who died.

Allen is survived by his daughters, Ta Ronce and Brenda Allen.
