We are deeply saddened to announce to you Villiam Vecchi’s death. He was the former goalkeeper and longtime Carlo Ancelotti collaborator who passed away on August 3, 2022, at the age of 73. May he rest in peace.

He was born on December 28, 1948, in Scandiano, Italy. He started his career from 1967 to 1974 by playing with AC Milan and then joined Como in 1976.

During his career and when he played with AC Milan, they won the Champions Cup, Cup Winners’ Cup, and Scudetto for the Rossoneri, Cagliari, Como, and Spal, collecting a variety of appearances in both the top and codetta leagues.

Villiam Vecchi achieved a lot of honors including one European Cup, one Club World Cup, one European Super Cup, and one Copa del Rey when he worked for two seasons as part of the Real Madrid coaching staff with Carlo Ancelotti as a coach.

After Villiam Vecchi’s death, Real Madrid expressed its condolences and send its love and sympathy to his family, his teammates, his clubs, and loved ones. He was later at Ancelotti’s side in the Emilian coach’s many adventures, even far from Italy.

It was before starting to teach others the craft of goalkeeper when he played in Como and Ferrara, in Spal. Vecchi was an icon and a legend, his figurines in black jerseys with red edges, then in green or gray jerseys marked an era. Like his parades. He never is forgotten by his Milan fans, the real ones.

A Milan send its condolences and shared a statement: “Always close to Milan, always Red and Black. The hero of Salonika will continue to make saves up there.” Also, added:

“An incredible sadness among all Milan fans for the passing of Villiam Vecchi. Condolences to the family of our legendary №1 and goalkeeping coach of the European champions in 2003 and 2007.”

Villiam Vecchi’s death was announced on Wednesday, August 3, when he was at a hospital in Reggio Emilia. There is no specific information about the reason behind his death that officials or his family informed.
