Sad to announce that veteran actor Gavin MacLeod’s cause of death is confirmed as unrelated Covid19 illnesses. His nephew Mark See announced that he was at home in Palm Desert, California, at the age of 90.

The star died early Saturday morning, May 29, surrounded by his friends, family, and carers.

The actor famous for his roles on The Love Boat and The Mary Tyler Moore Show has had numerous hospital stays in recent months after suffering ‘various’ illnesses.

Gavin MacLeod spanned more than seven decades. He is well-known for playing Captain Merrill on The Love Boat for ten years in 250 episodes and a spin-off television movie.

In 2010, the New York Times said: “Perhaps no actor has embraced a signature role the way Mr. MacLeod has with Captain Stubing. Since “The Love Boat” went off the air, he has been a spokesman for Princess Cruises.”

He had roles in popular shows, including Hawaii Five-O, The Man from U.N.C.L.E, Perry Mason, The Untouchables, Hogan’s Heroes, Cain’s Hundred, Peter Gunn, Charlie’s Angels, Murder She Wrote, That 70’s Show, and many others.

He had spots on The Merv Griffin Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Dinah!, Hollywood Squares, Celebrity Sweepstakes, All-Star Family Fortunes, The Michael Douglas Show, Donny and Marie, and more.

Gavin MacLeod has more than 100 acting credits to his name and appeared in many Christian-themed shows and films.
