The fire was reported at the Ashwood Apartments on Worth Boulevard around 7:20 Thursday night.
At least 4 people were immediately transferred to the hospital following a multi-alarm fire broke out at an apartment building in Coventry Township, Pennsylvania on Thursday night.
Fire crews responded to a call that came in around 7:30 p.m. for a fire at the Ashwood Apartments located on the 700 block of Worth Boulevard.

More than 100 lost everything they had in North Coventry apartment fire
According to reports from a chopper over the scene; It’s said that heavy flames overwhelmed most of the three-story apartment structure.
There is no immediate word on the circumstances of the victims or if anyone else was injured. The cause of the North Coventry apartment fire is under investigation.
The three floors building collapsed in on themselves. Eyewitness cameramen captured several people on stretchers. However, officials maintain all occupants were evacuated.
Residents of the building say there are no fire hydrants in the area so firefighters have been pumping water from a nearby pond. The Red Cross is on the scene of the fire in North Coventry to help those replaced by the blaze. Officials say more than 100 people lived in the building.
Officials say four people have been transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
What caused the fire to break out?
According to witnesses, the fire began near the top floor of the structure and quickly spread along the roofline. The apartment seems to have pre-dated firewalls and that crews had water pressure problems during the firefight.
Chester County officials announced approximately 125 people have been displaced by the blaze. The Red Cross is providing shelter to 15 families. Fire crews were sent from Delaware County to help with water supply issues.
A resident reported that the fire began in a single unit before it quickly spread.
On Friday morning, smoke was still rising from the charred remains of the apartment building.
The three-alarm fire started at the Ashwood Apartments on 782 Worth Road shortly before 7:45 p.m. Thursday. Huge flames and plumes of smoke could be seen rising from the building.
Reports from the scene:
“I smelled the smoke, I thought it was just an alarm going off. And then I left, I went down to my sister’s apartment, who lives on the first floor, I came up and the whole third floor was engulfed in smoke in minutes. It was that quick,” resident Mark Shaffer said on the scene.
“I didn’t even have time to take anything either. That was the least of my worries, it was just getting everybody else out.”
“It feels like a movie, a very bad movie,” resident Jeffrey Burnett stated. “I have zero things now. I literally have my phone, my camera and that’s it. My dad has nothing now. He needs his medicine, which is in there.”
