Mr. West, who pitched for the New York Mets and Minnesota Twins, had earned a ring with the latter in 1993 Later on, he went and became a member of the Phillies in 1993 for what would turn out to be a pennant season.
Looking back, it’s now considered to be the best season of West’s career, as well as one of the greatest in Phillies history. His stellar performance which included a perfect inning in Game 6 of the NLCS, helped the Phillies advance to the World Series for the first time in a decade.
Mr. West was a fourth-round pick of the New York Mets in the 1993 draft, being originally from Memphis, Tenn. Where the Twins won the 1991 World Series, he pitched two seasons for the Mets and four seasons with Minnesota.
On December 5, 1992, the legend was then traded to the Phillies. Finishing his career with the Boston Red Sox, he compiled a 31–38 record and a 4.66 ERA in 202 games over his 10-year MLB career.
Putting that aside, along with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, he spent the 1997 season in Japan. Not to be forgotten that at the point the left-hander had the best season of his career in that 1993 campaign, he made three appearances during the 1993 World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Press of AC announced; “David West, who was a member of the beloved 1993 Philadelphia Phillies team, died after a battle with brain cancer, according to news reports the team confirmed Saturday.”
