Sad to announce that a digital video intern for the Clippers passed away. The video assistant Assane Drame’s accident driving at night after working media day led him to death at the young age of 26.
The Clippers announced his death news on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. In their statement, the Los Angeles Clippers praised Drame’s work ethic and character and added that he was respected by several parts of the organization after he started working as a video intern in 2019. They called video assistant Assane Drame “kind to his colleagues, earning the respect and admiration of players, coaches, and staff.”
Assane’s sister released that her brother had died in a car accident after she had tweeted a request for help in finding her brother after his family reported him missing. He was living in Philadelphia, the Mar Vista area, and his roommate made her efforts to find him.
His family had become concerned after they received a call from the Clippers’ human resources department that he was not available for work.
This fatal car accident happened while Drame was driving home from the Clippers’ media day on Monday, September 27, per 1090 AM’s Arash Markazi. He had also been present at the groundbreaking of the Clippers’ planned Intuit Dome.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he was graduated from New Jersey’s Rowan University with a degree in Radio, Television, and Film. He was a graduate of Lindenwold High School in Lindenwold, New Jersey.
In addition to working for the Clippers, he had worked as an intern or contributor at Philadelphia radio station WHYY, NBC Sports Philadelphia, and the FanSided blog for the Phoenix Suns.
The Clippers are reportedly in training camp at San Diego State University before NBA preseason games begin the following week.
