Although Kathy Lamkin’s cause of death has not been revealed, her family shared a statement to confirm the heartbreaking news that the actress passed away on April 4, 2022.

Kathy’s family said that the Texas Chainsaw Massacre actress sadly died after suffering for a short while from an illness, though the “illness” she battled has not yet been confirmed.

“Kathy will be missed by her family and friends and left an impact on all she that encountered during her life on this Earth,” the family said.

Born in Graham, Texas on December 10, 1947, Kathy went on to join a traveling theatre company before moving from theatre to the big screen.

She was mostly known for the scene-stealing role as a trailer park manager in No Country for Old Men. Actor Javier Bardem, who starred as sociopath Anton Chigurh in the film, told Backstage of the scene together: “This woman doesn’t know who this guy is and isn’t intimidated.”

He continued: “I said to the guys after shooting with her, ‘There’s only one person who can frighten Chigurh, and it’s this woman. ‘You can’t tell whether she frightens him or he falls in love with her — if he’s going to kiss her or kill her.’”

The late actress also opened up to Backstage about moving to act, despite starting out as a shy child. “I grew up in a very rural town, and you could only get two television stations on a good night, depending on the weather,” she shared:

“And I loved watching the Academy Awards and would dream and get goosebumps about those things. But we weren’t rich, we weren’t going to be famous, and so it was just something to dream about,” she added.

Kathy Lamkin’s Cause of Death is still Secret

Many fans are shocked by hearing the sad news, but Kathy Lamkin’s cause of death is still a secret to them. The family of the actress also has not revealed the exact cause of death at this time.

Lamkin Kathy who appeared in a number of TV shows and films in the 90s started out doing theater in high school. Then she continued to act on stage while entering Texas Women’s University.

Over the course of her career, Kathy had roles in such films as Waiting for Guffman, In the Valley of Elah, Sunshine Cleaning, Confession, The Astronaut Farmer, and Sweetwater.

She also starred in movies such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. The late actress appeared in Welcome to the Rileys, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Heartbreak Kid, and more.

Her TV credits included Nip/Tuck, Medium, Malcolm in the Middle, Bones, My Name Is Earl, and Boston Legal.

Her final projects were released in 2014 including one a movie, and a short film. The first one was a drama, which starred The Rambler actress Lindsay Pulsipher and The Bomb City actor Glenn Morshower.

The second one was a western that clocked in at less than 30 minutes. It featured The Dropout’s Michael Ironside and Chicago P.D.’s Kevin J. O’Connor.

The talented actress is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Donald and Jerry, and her sisters Jeannette Oreschnigg and Jeannie Guinn. Lamkin is survived by her husband Stephen L. Lamkin, son Greg, daughter Kati, and her grandchildren Morgan and Benjamin.

After the sad news of Kathy Lamkin’s death was announced on social media, Many friends and fans started sending condolence to her family and paying tribute to the late star.

John Squires wrote on Twitter: “Sad to hear that Kathy Lamkin, who played “Tea Lady” in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake as well as The Beginning, has passed away at 74. The side characters add so much local texture to those movies. Incredibly memorable character, even with such a small role.”

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that our dear Kathy Lamkin passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022, after a short illness. She was a bright shining example of kindness and encouragement in everything she did. She will be missed by many. We love you, Kathy,” Linda McAlister tweeted.

One fan wrote: “Kathy Lamkin is in No Country for Old Men for less than a minute, but she makes such an indelible impression that every single person can recall her exact delivery of “Did you not hear me, we can’t give out no information about our residents”. Anton Chigurh never stood a chance.”

Jenelle Riley said on Twitter: “Sad to hear of the passing of Kathy Lamkin, who stole NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. Javier Bardem once told me of their scene: “You can’t tell whether she frightens him or he falls in love with her — if he’s going to kiss her or kill her.’”

“The 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and its 2006 prequel The Beginning were some of the best adaptations in the Texas Chainsaw franchise ever and it’s always sad to hear when another dear cast member has passed away, RIP Kathy Lamkin,” another fan wrote.
